Re: [East_Mids_ICL] New Rules - Bringing All the Threads Together
Hi all, can we claifiy the logical operands
here
is it
1) 2.
An Intermediate is anyone who has flown a UK 300km AND has competed
in more than 2 UK Regionals..
If so then we are saying that a Novice can have done a
300 and a few 500's , but as long as they have not flown 3 regionals
they don't qualify as an intermediate?
So I presume we are saying 'OR' - which makes sense as
if you are on your 3rd regionals you areprobably going to have cracked
a 300.
I fully support the rule changes for pundit based on my
performance last weekend!!

[East_Mids_ICL] New Rules - Bringing
All the Threads Together
Dear all,
There appear to be several different conversations going on at the moment
so in an attempt to bring them all together, please see below:
1. A Novice is anyone who has at least a Cross Country Endorsement, has
not flown a UK 300km and can have competed in up to 2 UK Regional competitions.
2. An Intermediate is anyone who has flown a UK 300km, has competed in
more than 2 UK Regionals.
3. A Pundit is anyone who has flown a UK 750km or has been placed in the
top half of a UK Nationals in the last 10 years.
4. There is a period of grace between the move from Novice to Intermediate
of one year. For example; if a novice flies a 300km this season (2009),
they will not be expected to fly as an Intermediate until the 2011 season.
5. Anyone can move up a class without any penalties. If you feel that an
Intermediate could compete against Pundits (or to soothe their feelings!),
there is no penalty in doing this.
Russell makes a good point that the orignal rules were designed a long
time ago and these changes reflect the changes which have taken place in
aircraft design, instrumentation.... etc.
Hopefully this makes it clearer!

Dear All Thanks for spotting my deliberate mistake Chris - just checking everyone was reading the new rules carefully! During the conversation at HUS it was...
So, if you have done a 750 or finished in the top half of a national you are a pundit if you have done a 300 or competed in 2 regionals you are an intermediate...
Wouldn't this be better in reverse to illustrate that pilots of lower experience may always move up a class as required or wished. This is how the original...
Hi Julian They have to be OR's otherwise, as an example, a pilot who never enters Regional's will always remain a Novice even if he/she flies a 1000km as ...
Sorry Russell - I agree with Julian's logic, based on the fact your rules have ORs as well as NOTs. So by your rules below, for example, anyone who has NOT...

You wouldn't believe how hard it is to write three sentences or misinterpret the same three sentences :-) I didn't get the highest grade in English "O" level...
How about putting an "either" in the sentence instead.... An intermediate is someone who has flown either a UK 300km or more than 2 Regionals. A pundit is...
