Andy,
Do you mean the actual building?
I should have pictures of staff and pupils and prize winners, but at the moment
I am unable to find them on my old computer, that packed up.
Joyce Morris has them. She said she sent them to you when the site first opened
up. So you may have them already. She has also put them on the FRU site. Can
they be copied from there?
Barbara
Thanks for the invite Betty. Bit too far to come from the UK, but it made my
mouth water.

Ladies, lovely to hear from our elder states persons :-)
It's just a thought but, I wonder if you have any pictures of the old
Elliott - I can use in the picture collection at
http://www.geocities.com/elliott_school_net/
And I don't suppose you would like to enlarge on your details about the old
school, in the Pupil Recollections Section.
If I don't ask I don't get!

Hello Barbara:
Great minds do think alike, dear friend.
Yes, I wish more of the old crowd would tune in. I know many are still
around, those I mentioned previously and a couple of the 1946-50 chaps like:
Peter Gillies, Bobby Laird,
Fred Grimshaw and I'm sure many others.
Well back to the stove, I'm cooking Thai Shrimp Gyros with a sauteed blend
of of Haricot Vert Green Beans, Wax Beans and Baby Carrots for lunch. A
womans' work is never done! You and Les are welcome to stop by.
Bye for now
Betty

Hi Betty
Glad to see you tuned in. We must have been on the same wavelength to do it
within a day of each other!
Love to hear from some more adventurers, like yourself, who were brave
enough to go forth and find excitement in other lands.
The Elliott certainly gave us a good foundation. Miss Beacon inspired me to
become a Science teacher. Mrs Philips gave me my great knowledge and thirst
for mathematics, which I seem to have passed on to one of my grandsons.
They were the good old days. I loved my years at the Elliott. From what I
have read of some of the previous writers to this site, it appears to have
turned out some pretty good citizens.

Hello:
Another "old timer" here from the good old Southfields days that checks in
now and then. However, we do tend to get overlooked! Barbara (Barwis) does
her best to rally the troops but it falls on deaf ears, sad to say. As
mentioned before: there must be some of us still alive and kicking. People
tend to live to their 80's and 90's+ these days, and we are not all doddery
old fools! There must be a lot of life left in the old Southfields crowd
yet.... I hope! Let's hear some of it.
For you younger ones who may not know; Southfields is where the original
Elliott School was located (on Merton Road) when the boys and girls had
separate schools, next to each other, and no fraternizing during school
hours...ha!ha! We even had Miss Cast! When she walked into the room (as
with the other teachers), you paid attention in those days.
I live in Southern California (nearly 40 years) so guess you can say I'm
settled here. Visit the UK often as I can as my family are still there,
including my 92 year old Mum. Whilst there during last November I got
together with some of my old school buddies. Met, for the very first time,
Barbara Barwis (and her husband, Les), with whom I had been corresponding
due to the FR website. A terrific lady, glad we met and are now good
friends. A surprise luncheon was given by dear close friends and we (my
husband and I) arrived at the restaurant to be greeted by 8 persons I had
not seen for 40+ years! Including, Audrey Phillips and Marion Wallace close
old Elliottians from my era that I had not seen for 54 years! What a joyful
day that was, such fun! Also during my visit saw Gwen Bayliss for the first
time in 54 years! Must say, for "old uns" we all looked pretty good and all
of us "still with it"
I've had, and still have, a good life here. The Americans are generous
people and were most kind and helpful to my friend and I when we landed on
their shores nearly 40 years ago. I've worked for the same company for 38
years, semi-retired now, but still put in 2-3 days a week, flexible hours,
come and go as I please really. A perk for longevity! My friend, Audrey,
whom I came over with, is now retired and lives very happily in Palm
Springs.
Well, to those of you that took the time to read this, hope it was
worthwhile.
I wish you all good health.
Cheers!
Betty

Hi Everyone
Here I am, another one still here, one of the oldies!
I do wish we could get some of the oldies from the old school to write in. I
am sure there must be lots of them who are computer literate. Even if they
don't have access to their own computer they probably have a family member
who has one.
I used the library computers that had free access to everyone until I bought
my own. They also do free training.
I have missed all the chit chat and teasing from the youngsters on this
site. But would love to share some memories from my own age group.
How about some news from far away Ellitonians to tell us what they have been
up to, what there country is like at the moment, what opportunities there
are out there (even if it is only for visiting for my age group)?
Let's see what comes up.
Barbara (1945 to 1949)
