Hello
I'm John Dyson
Went to the Elliott straight after the war, left around 1949, still have
many happy memories of the old school, down to 'Pops' at lunch break for a
1d jam and a fag.
We always played football or cricket in the playground trying hard not to
break any windows, I still have a medal when we won the South London league
at football. It was great to have our own field where we played
football, cricket and athletics, I remember lending my cricket bat to Mr.
Brown the groundsman for a game against the masters and he broke it, my
pride and joy.
I'm sure there are plenty of lads and girls still around now in their
seventies and going strong with great memories of the old school. Roy Perry
is my brother in law, have also met some old lads, one five years ahead of
me and one seven years behind and we have discussed our days and the
teachers that were around at the time (this was at the local indoor bowling
club at Redhill).
I remember many of my classmates:- John (Dicky) Dow, Billy Miller, Roy Page,
Mason, Carter, Peter Woods, Coilin Green, Roy Frankum, Gallacher, in the
class above there was Eastland, Laird, Reggie Crook and many more. It would
be nice to here from someone?
I left school a year earlier than most pupils as apparently I should have
gone into the second year when I started.
My job took me around the country living in Yorkshire, Warwickshire,
Northamptonshire ending up in my own business, eventually finishing back in
Godstone, Surrey.
Hope to hear from someone out there after this E.Mail
By the way we were always called Old Elliottonians.
Best wishes
John (Dick) Dyson.
