Sorry I was unable to attend the meeting at the School today, for a
last minute attempt to arrange things for the November 4th Reunion.
I had long assumed this would all have been sorted months
ago,building on the enthusiasm and suggestions coming in from
former pupils.
How disappointing to hear that the School has not felt able to
allocate funds towards this event and that the PTA has said it
is "not interested in the Past, only the Future". Being part of a
praiseworthy Past at Elliott, I personally fear for the Future of a
School with that attitude. I hope that they are not ashamed of the
achievements of the Present when compared with those of the Past.
There are no schools anywhere in London now offering what Elliott
offered in the early years in Putney under Maurice Holmes.
I look forward to meeting again anyone from that time, especially,
and I am sure they will be turning up to meet one another and swap
tales rather than expect to have speeches and entertainments laid on.
