The people who remember Mary Towersey (head of music) may be interested to know
that I went to her funeral in Bristol yesterday.
It was a nice service, and the resumee of her life included a mention of her
time at Elliott, so I was glad to be the representative.
The service began with a recording of 'The Arrival of the Queen of Sheba',
played by Mary herself, which would have amused her, I think.
Since moving from London to Bristol, where she had many friends who attended
the funeral, she obviously made a great impact, and she will be sadly missed.
I have kept in touch for more than forty years, and will always be grateful to
her for getting me through 'A' level music. I shall certainly miss her.

Sandie Velvick (Elliott 1958 - 1965)
