I have to say you explained my feelings and sentiments to the tee June
Geoff
I have no wish to 'stick my oar in' but I must say that having watched with
growing frustration and disappointment you're numerous attempts to get any
information regarding 'my time' at school I must say that it seems
unbelievable that you should be accused of being rude Edmund. I strongly
object to the tone of the last few emails sent to you.
Mr Smith seems to have access to our Archivist so could he please ask him to
release any information that he has, which is extremely important to many of
us, before it's too late and we have all popped our clogs!!
Regards
June Bavin nee Chitty 1955-1961

While not wishing to continue this discussion on the Message page, Dick,
I wonder why you are so concerned.
I see nothing ill-mannered in using the self given title.
I, and others, have been unable to get replies to emails asking for
information and the return of photos and material loaned for scanning.
You were yourself involved in 1980 when I loaned you my collection of
Magazines and Prize Giving Programmes for a History Dept. Evening. They were
'mislaid' and I next saw them as part of the Archive at the 2006 Reunion
when I was persuaded to leave them there, But I asked to be allowed to
borrow them to scan anything of interest for the website. I have still not
had access to them.
I am sure there will be others in the Egroup who share my disappointment
with the situation
Edmund

Have you asked John?
Did he refuse?
I think it is extremely ill-mannered to call him ‘archivist’.

Well Dick,
You should be aware that you may not be fully informed on requests, verbal
or written, over a number of years, quite apart from the obvious fact that
ALL members of the Egroup are frequently invited, asked and requested
in these Messages to supply any information they have which would be of
interest to other members and to offer corrections for any inaccuracies they
see on the website.
It is generally felt that Archive material should be available to all, not
squirrelled away for some personal satisfaction and the elliottonian website
has proved an ideal depository, readily accessed by former Pupils and Staff
across the world.
Your own contributions have been appreciated.
Edmund

The ŒArchivist¹ is called John Dodwell.
He has not, as far as I am aware, been asked to provide anything for the
website, that was not what he was appointed to do. I¹m sure that if you
asked him he would oblige.

Well, I was given to understand that records from the early days in Putney
had been dumped and we could not refer to them.
I now hear that our 'Archivist' has been busy studying the records he has
from the Holmes and Davies years, before he joined the Elliott School
himself.
Perhaps we can look forward to some contribution to the website from the
'Archivist' eventually.
