Greetings Possums,
My computer has been down for a while so I have only just
checked my e-mail. I wondered what was going on when so many
e-mails pitched up at the same time.
I don't want to go into what has been going on re archivist
except to say that Edmund Hodges and Andy Lambert are what
cockneys would call 'Diamond Geezers'.
They have done a wonderful job with this website for which I
am truly grateful. So no more 'Ruffled Feathers' please or I
will have do what Mr.Mackee my music teacher at Elliott around
1959 used to say: 'If there's any more of this I will come in
amongst you, I will come in amongst you'.
Anyone remember him?
I never knew Andy or Edmund during my time at Elliott 1957-1962.
I'm afraid Edmund my only interest in art lessons was the lovely
Miss Wade. Talk about hormones clicking in. Every time I saw her
it was like the Charge of The Light Brigade.
Some memories never fade. I can still picture her with her shoulder
length blonde hair and black leather boots.
If I keep on like this someone will chuck a bucket of cold water over
me. Anyway Possums enjoy the summer and keep the messages coming in.
Hi Alan
Yes I remember Mr Mackee very well and recollect him coming in amongst us quite
often. I don't think we fully appreciated classical music in those days. I
also remember Miss Wade and in fact she was our form mistress in the first year
I think. She was lovely and as a very drab 12 year old wished I could look like
her. Oh well some things never happen no matter how long you wait. We must
have been in the same class I think. I was there between 1957 - 1962 as well.
What was the name of the very strict Science master? I remember him saying on
our first lesson. "I don't want you to burn yourselves using the bunson
burners. It's not that I care about you but I just can't stand the smell of
burning flesh"!!

Thanks for your Kind words Alan of course there are times when I do
wonder why we bother, but a 'pat on the back' goes a long way towards
making up for the promised pictures (and other things) that ofton never
arrive.
Re Miss Wade, yes she has been featured in this Egroup before (now there
is a photo we really should have) and I can only agree with those
comment already made. Her, along with Anne Bulmer, certainly made a
lasting impression on most of one half of the school! Spare a thought
for Edmund though, as he had to work with these ladies.
Re your Science Master Lynda, could you be speaking of Porky Parsonage?
I don't remember him saying that, but it was his style.
He along with Mr Burns and Mr Holmes largely made me the person I am and
certainly taught me the standard I live by today.
Regards Andy Lambert
Pupil 1958-63 (Celt)
