CONFERENCE OVERVIEW
PURPOSE: To provide an open Forum in which a range of different key
stakeholders can engage in a high level discussion concerning the
potential future energy contexts of China and other Far East states.
The aim of the event is to enable a better cross-sectoral
understanding of the key energy drivers affecting strategic policy in
the region, and to examine ways in which potential, consequent
security tensions could be foreseen and mitigated by diplomatic and
economic means.
‘Future energy strategies and security scenarios for the China and
the Far East’ will emphasise:
• Implications of energy demand for international security,
geopolitics and world markets
• Opportunities to manage demand
• Strategic actions to reduce incidence and severity of energy
security risks and geopolitical impacts
