Politics and politicians have rarely been held in such distain as they are today. This is dangerous for democracy. This gives added importance to the European Elections that are taking place in early June. The major political parties face a crisis of confidence and may suffer badly and fringe parties (some extreme) may grow in popularity as a deep protest aimed at the conventional political establishment.
In these important times, The Enfield & The Barnets United Nations Association are planning to hold a Hustings for candidates of the five or six main parties on Thursday May 28th from 7.30 onwards at
Burford Hall , Palmers Green United Reformed Church,
Burford Gardens, Palmers Green,
London N13 4AL.
This will be one of the very few Hustings in North London and so it gives us an opportunity to question our candidates about what actions they plan to take on some of the great global issues that are facing us including what the role of Europe should be in the 21st century. It is also a chance to see how they think confidence in politics can be restored.
