Dear all,
Further to the ERSG update earlier today I'm posting this note with
some links to recent research and study on people, birds and climate
change.
In the UK the Stern Review has just been released and presents a
careful and considered warning to all of us.
Links to the Stern Review can be found here:

cs_climate_change/sternreview_index.cfm or just do a Google search
for the Stern Review.
The Royal Society for the Protrection of Birds, based in the UK, has
also looked at this issue:

Still in the UK - A joint British Ornithological Union /ECSA
(Estuarine & Coastal Studies Association) conference was held at the
University of Hull on 22-24 March 2002.
Approximately 100 delegates from seven countries met for the weekend
to discuss the effects of climate change upon bird populations in
general, and coastal species in particular. The scientific component
of this generally excellent conference was organised by Mark
Rehfisch (BTO).
See this report at: http://www.bou.org.uk/meetrep8.html
And in the US - The American Bird Conservancy (ABC) has been at the
forefront of research looking at potential range changes of birds as
well as looking for observed changes possibly attributable to
climate change.

I'll post these as links on the ERSG - I'm sure there is a lot more
information on these issues out there - if you have further links or
reports please post them to the site or send them on to me.
Cheers and best,
Robert Gosford
