Re: [Ethnoornithology] New book!! - Spirits of the Air: Birds and American Indians in the South

Thanks, Robert, for the heads-up on this book. I will definitely get
one. What first convinced me to study anthropology was viewing a
film clip by Franz Boas of Kwakiutl American Indians cutting through
quite choppy waters in their war canoes. In the bow of one danced
and hopped a fierce "bear," miraculously keeping his balance, but
what raised the hair on my arms was the huge bird in the bow of
another canoe. It faced straight ahead, swooping toward its prey on
large, steady wings.

Best wishes,
Audrey
