Welcome to the Friends of Southwark Park e-group!

The Friends group is now in its 12th year and looks forward to welcoming you at a meeting or on this e-group.

Our aims are to protect, enhance, promote and enjoy Southwark Park and King's Stairs Garden. The Friends help organise parks events, and have a say in the development of the park and its many facilities. We work with Southwark Council to suggest improvements to keep the park clean, safe and a pleasure to visit.

Tuesday April 15th at the Cafe Gallery, Southwark Park
Start at 6pm prompt (sunset at 7pm!)
On the agenda will be: working towards a successful future for the group, current vacancies on the Committee, and Summer events and activities in Southwark Park. If you have any items for the agenda please get in touch. Meeting notes from January 24th and an Agenda will be available on the night.

Please pass on details to anyone interested in coming to the meeting, contributing ideas, volunteering time or skills, or joining the committee. (We are looking for a Treasurer)

The Friends of Southwark Park

The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces. In Southwark there are many popular parks and open spaces sites run by enthusiastic people working with their local communities. Spaces that were run-down just a few years ago have been transformed in to well used and loved places. Green Flag aims to recognise this dedication to improving local parks for and with local people.

Winning a Green Flag Award is good for the park and for the local community. A Green Flag park is one that is: welcoming; safe; clean and well maintained; sustainable; mindful of conservation and heritage and encourages community involvement. A Green Flag park or open space will provide good community facilities and will engender a sense of civic pride.
