Hi Andy
I have not seen this beast but Pink Spiny Lobster is the name for
Palinurus mauretanicus ftp://ftp.fao.org/docrep/fao/009/t0411e/T0411E20.pdf.
They are recorded off the west of Ireland to 53°N, but only below 180 metres,
normally below 200 metres. As there is not much water of that depth close to
the UK, they are very infrequent in British landings. Catches in the Western
Mediterranean can be of 200 to 300 crayfish at a time, presumably these are
breeding groups.

Hello,
The pink spiny lobster is closely related to the common crawfish but is usually
found off the west coast of Africa and in the Mediterranean.

Is this Palinurus mauretanicus ?
I am not sure now rare or unusual this species is?
Cheers
Andy Horton.
