Hi,

As a small child I had my nose pressed up against the 'new' Goring library, waiting for it to open its doors.  And now it's 50!

I am appalled at the idea of flats on the sea-front.  My parents owned the bungalow, now demolished by the council, next to Sea Place Stores (Baloo's?).  In fact my dad, who used to own Mulberry Nurseries, where some houses and shops now are, died there.

I had a very happy childhood in Goring, at West Park Primary School, then the Tech.  I used to climb the trees in Ilex Way (not Avenue) and I am pleased that the trees are still there.  I now live in Paradise, New South Wales (Empire Bay actually but it is a lovely spot) and have fond memories of my hometown.

Happy holidays, all you residents.  While we swelter you will shiver!

Alayna
