Friction, rods, gears and backlash   Message List

Hi

I'm using Meccano to construct a CNC machine. I have a concern that I
will come up with issues of friction with moving parts and tolerance
of rod / gear movement which could lead to backlash/ innaccuracy
issues.

Could anyone give me an idea of how meccano can be lubricated and how
much of a problem I can expect with sloppiness in moving parts?

Any comments are very welcome.

Andy

(By the way, I was born in Oxford in 1954 and had numerous Meccano
sets whilst I was a child and want ro re-introduce Meccano into my
model making. I now live in Melbourne, Australia.)
