Their road safety officer, Peter Sheperdson went on to say “We warn young children away from knives and fire, yet we give them bikes knowing that in most cases they will be ridden on the road without supervision or any regard for the Highway Code.” The council has since responded to the criticism by saying that the aim of the release was to encourage parents to make sure that their children’s bikes are road-worthy. Cycle-Rail awardsEly andhave been awarded ‘best station of the year’ in the 2005 National Cycle-Rail Awards, which is judged by an independent panel of judges including CTC.
