Dear Colleagues
Action on Liaison Group & Consultation
Here’s what action I suggest we should take:
1) Write a letter to The Cabinet Member*, copied to relevant
Officers and the Chief Executive, setting out our complaints & concerns — and how we would like to see matters resolved. Threaten to boycott CLG if there’s no improvement. (A new Chief Exec. is due to take over about now...could be a good opportunity.) If advice is going to be ignored, we need to know why.
2) At the same time, send out a Press Release, stating that we have written as above, giving quotes and examples etc., sending in pics. if possible. Point out that we put in a great deal of voluntary time to help the Council get projects right, but that they don’t listen etc., etc. This should place added pressure on the Council — especially if we can get a good spread in the papers.
3) If nothing happens, or there’s a negative response, all agree to boycott the CLG indefinitely — with immediate effect.
Simply boycotting the CLG without any supporting action or publicity work would probably suit the Council, because it would just save the expense and Officers’ time.
What are your views, Ladies & Gentlemen?
Regards
David
PS Terry, are the examples in your pics. in Upminster Road? Can you get a look at the Pedestrian Refuges in St Mary’s Lane? We may be talking at cross-purposes re. the vanishing Cycle-Lanes.
