Thanks, Philip...that's champion.
The London Bike Shop that stocks Gazelle (Town) bikes is Compton Cycles: http://www.comptoncycles.co.uk/brands/gazelle.php or you could check www.velorution.biz .
We met Steve in the Country Park on Tuesday. I was with a friend who was concerned that her Grandchildren may get hurt on the large rocks used to demarcate the MntnBk tracks.
There is a 'Grand Opening' of the Southern Extension on Saturday, 11.00 — 17.00, but with no dignitaries invited.

Hello David.
There were three aspects of our cycle trip that of particular interest
to me. The first was the examination of cycle-friendly access to Queen's
Hospital allowing for approaches from different areas of the borough. I
think this is important as access to the major utilities should be one
of the main aims of good cycle routes.
The second was the muddled signage and cluttered cycle paths in the
Romford Station and Eastern Road area. I hope that the trip will
expedite dealing with these issues at subsequent CLG meetings.
The third was the routes through Harrow Lodge Park. I hadn't explored
these before, and while they are off my normal patch, I was pleased to
find such pleasant paths.
After you left us, we proceeded (without incident) along the Ingrebourne
Valley route to Hacton Lane ( you might like to mention this gave us the
chance to observe and hear Herons, Skylarks, Blackcaps and Reed
Buntings). From Hacton Lane, we followed the Valley route to Upminster
Road, and then the London Loop to Wingletye Lane. (This is a difficult
junction for cyclists, and might be worth discussion). I led the
remainder of the group through Emerson Park on quiet roads, past the
expensive mantions, on to Abbs Cross Lane and Gidea Park. From there,
there is a quiet route along Stanley Road and The Ridgeway. That brought
us back to the Toucan crossing by Raphael's Park. Glen and Daniel went
back to base from there, while I continued through the park to the A12.
You may know that the proposed crossing A12 had been shelved, but
largely thanks to Councillor Armstrong, it should now go ahead. This
will be important for access from Collier Row to areas south of the A12.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Philip. |
