Hi Bexie
The first thing i would suggest you do is spend a day shadowing a qualified hospital play specialist, you could probably just ring your local hospital's children's ward and arange it over the phone, most hospital play specialist's are used to this, it happens to me all the time. You will probably be asked to bring with you a current CRB check.
The other thing you need to do is look at your range of work experience. You need at least 3 years work experience with children in group setting, nannying normally doesn't count. Also your experience has to range between 0-18 years, so if you don't have much experience with the older age group maybe try after school clubs, guides or scouts and youth clubs. It is possible to do all of these in a voluntary capacity.
I would sugest you also look at the following websites www.nahps.org.uk www.hpset.org.uk
Good luck
Harriet
