Hi Wayne
I do agree with Kathryn, it can sometimes be difficult to find posts on the NHS Jobs website but don't give up.
Basicly, if you type in Play Specialist, it will come up with every post on the site which has the word "play" and "specialist" anywhere is the job advert, so you really need to be patient and look through every single post that the site come up with, even if that is 60 or so. When I have looked there is nearly always at least one or two posts that come up but it is normally many more than that. Just don't give up.
I would also really recomend carrying out some volunteer work along side a qualified play specialist, as many people often think that they will like this type of work and there change their minds when they get into a job. At any interview it will really going in your favour if you have had voluntary experience in this
area, as then they will know you really do understand this type of work.
I work also really recomend joining NAHPS - National Association of Hospital Play Staff. As well as all the other useful resources you get from being a member of NAHPS such as Journals and Newsletters etc, you also get job adverts in the post straight to your door for a wide range of posts within the profession including Play Specialist and Play Assistant posts.
Good Luck with your career
Harriet

Hi Wayne,
I know how annoying i can be to try and get an assistant job, the nhs
website is strange, so make sure you try a mixture of search key
words, some days i typed in "play specialist" and i brought up
nothing, yet others i put in "play assistant" and some came up, so my
advice is to keep searching the website and vary the search words you
use.
Also, like Steph says, try to get some voluntary experience, once you
get your foot in the door of a trust it might help, thats been my
experience anyway.
where are you doing the course? i'm due to start at Southwark in Sept.
good luck with it all.
Kathryn
