Hi Sue,

We have sand in our hospital playroom. We are a district general. We
change it monthly and wash the (indoor) pit out with soap and water,
then alco wipe. The oncology / neutropenic children do not use it.
Our infection control nurse visited recently and she did not seem to be
worried about our sand and systems in place for infection control. We
try to have children wash hands before and after play, though this is
not always possible. Of course infectious children, or their siblings
are not permitted in the playroom.

cheers Jules
