Hi, I wonder if anybody's got any ideas.
I've been asked to work with a 15yr old male who has had diabetes for the past twelve years. Since diagnosis his mother has done all his care. In the last year he has become confident and competent in doing his blood sugar levels but still cannot bring himself to do his insulin injection. He's tried all sorts of things, including injecting into a toy, rewards, and psychology input. He just can't seem to bring himself to put the needle into his skin
. He doesn't mind looking at the needle, but doesn't like watching it being inserted. Any ideas?
Any suggestions will be gratefully received
Clare
