MOVING FAITH BEYOND BELIEF
Open, public discussion meeting on “Moving faith beyond belief” on Sunday
22 June 2008 at 3.30 p.m. in the Christian Science Reading Room, 96
Regent Street, Cambridge CB2 1DP.
Probably people of all faiths would like to feel that their faith is more
that just belief, that it is based on something that is genuinely true.
In the natural sciences it may not be too difficult to check whether a
belief is soundly based in material terms. However, checking the extent
to which one’s religious faith is soundly based may not be so easy.
This issue will be tackled by Daniel Scott (a Cambridge PhD graduate) in
a public lecture on “Moving faith beyond belief” on Tuesday 10 June at
7.30 p.m. at 60 Panton Street, Cambridge CB2 1HS. The plan at the
discussion meeting on 22 June is to raise and discuss some of the points
from that lecture. Views from different faith traditions will be
welcomed.
[Daniel Scott can also be heard as a panel member in a series on “Science
meets faith” at Wesley Church, CB1 1LG, on 9 June at 7.45 p.m.]
