Please be really careful and please try and ensure that the agency is
NOT judged on the number of pledgers. We are discovering some real
disasters when meeting donors who have received calls - 99% of whom are
too scared or humble or lacking confidence to say no or to
complain..... Telemarketing is high risk and almost impossible to
measure in REAL terms ie - when the gift actually arrives. This is not
scare-mongering it is that we just keep finding agencies who pride
themsleves on "pledger rates" and then we find supporters who misinfomr
and who are prviately very upset - in other words the long term outcome
is a disaster but the supposed short term benefit is good.
