Re: [LocalWatch] Doggie dung and other things

Are you sure it's not the foxes? They make some dreadful and weird noises in the middle of the night. It certainly isn't my Hank!

Dear all – we have recently got shot of our barking dog. Could this be related to the large amounts of dog dung on the pavement?

However, I have noticed a large number of caterwauling cats. Can anything be done about this?

Attached and below is the latest damage on the crime front. Death to all crims.

Following on from last weeks' thought that mobile phones are the 'root of all evil' (not only as a target for thieves but, in addition, how many people have been caught out by the mis-directed or undeleted text!) I now propose that we outlaw vehicles as well. If it wasn't for the vehicle crimes this week there would be hardly any crime to report on at all. Somebody quite rightly pointed out last week that surely it would be better to 'un - invent' thieves and robbers. Very true, but while we wait for that to happen we will be re-doubling our efforts to make life more difficult for those that do exist.

In all seriousness we must never reach the point when it is routine or expected for people to be victims of crime. Following last weeks edition I received anecdotal evidence of several incidents of young people being targeted for their phones, ipods etc that have gone unreported. Not all on our ward but even so I would encourage anyone who hears of an  incident of this type to bring it to our attention. If we have a fuller picture of what is happening it gives us a greater chance of dealing with it.

Another encouraging week regarding residential burglary with only the one offence reported

    Burglary:
    Shepherds Hill
Fri                   1700  - 0745             Front window forced                       Laptop / games console

No non residential offences either this week. Marvellous.

    Robbery:

No robberies. No distraction thefts.......nothing, unless you know differently.

    Vehicle Crime:
    Avenue Road
    Sat - Mon                   1700 - 0745                   Suzuki  - Window smashed                  ipod / sat nav

Cecile Park                              Sat - Mon                   1930 - 0815                   Peugeot                                                  wheels stolen

Gladwell Road                        Mon - Tue                   0730 - 1120                   Fiat                                                          stolen

Shepherds Hill                             Thu                         2000 - 2200                  Mercedes                                                stolen

Dickenson Road                   Thu - Fri                       1730 - 0730                 Astra                                                         tyres slashed

Middle Lane                                 Sat                                2330                       Peugeot - Window smashed                 no theft

Drylands Road                       Sat - Sun                      1845 - 0900                Citroen- Window smashed                    purse / cash

Shepherds Hill                        Sat - Sun                     2200 - 1100                Peugeot - Door bent back                     cd player

Wolesley Road                        Thu - Sun                     2100 - 1715               Fiat - Door forced                                   Cash

A fair smattering of offences again this week. In at least 2 of these there were signs of sat navs having been used in the vehicle(marks on the windscreen / suckers on the windscreen) which, unfortunately, is a sign to would be thieves that the vehicle is worth breaking into. It is no guarantee but the absence of any evidence of valuables being present does reduce the risk of your vehicle becoming a target. It's also interesting to note that most of the offences took place over the weekend.

    Other News:
A couple of really dangerous incidents during the week. The damage to the vehicle in Middle Lane ( listed above) was caused by an object smashing the window of a moving vehicle. The same happened to a bus and this caused injury to the driver. The injury was thankfully minor but the potential implications are obvious. No suspects were seen.

We have been continuing progress with the youth panel and dealing with the issue of the Town Hall square security. The level of Anti social behaviour (coming to our attention at least) seems to have reduced, however I am aware of an incident over the weekend where a group of youths caused some damage on the Broadway after leaving a party. From what I know they were not local and were heading off at the time.

A short edition this week due to other commitments. Please don't forget to contact us regarding anything you think we might be interested in.

Hopefully next weeks edition will include a summary of the famous Carling Cup triumph of the mighty Spurs.....hopefully!

      Regards
      John McGrath
