Looks like I just *may* be able to cross the pond for
this. Not absolutely sure, but I sure would like to see my
Brit friends and fest it up a bit with ya.

This is where you go to get coffee in Brixton, http://www.urban75.org/brixton/photos/263.html, it's easy to find on the main Brixton Road. The tall brick building behind and to the left of the cafe is where I work and the NYAS Fest is just beyond that.

The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic
hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs.
There's also a negative side.

November is a long time ahead for me to plan but I hope to be there.
A minor comment on the location map; the pub is actually on the south
side of Canterbury Crescent, next to the Pope's Road car park. The
reason that I can be so certain about this is because I have a desk on
the 7th floor of the building on the other side of Pope's Road! That
means that I can help with some aspects of local knowledge, e.g. where
to get a decent cup of coffee.

Hi, music lovers! I'll be performing a unique and challenging
"off-festival" Tribute To Neil: a barefoot performance of Greendale
(the whole album) sung in a Graham Nash voice and hair-piece. I'll be
accompanying myself on spoons and washboard. I haven't yet heard
Greendale, but I understand it's chock full o'tunes to set toes
a-tappin', so I look forward to seeing you all at the Carolus beer
bar, Place de Clichy, Paris (I told you it was off-festival).
Oh - if anyone can provide me with the full score (tabs for spoons)
and libretto for Greendale, it will help me put in a performance
worthy of the effort you will undoubtedly make to see it.

I wish I had gone to Ryman too but we'll try to make Brixton a good form of compensation.
Cathy - be great if you can come over. I'm a bit nervous about having to watch Ian and Mark dance though.... See you at IRF before then though.

I think so... definite for FA and NYAS... bridge is probable, as I
already have my plane ticket (decided my Delta miles are going to be
worthless soon anyway, so cashed them in for a San Fran ticket)... in
hindsight, should have skipped one of these and gone for Ryman!!... hope
you decide to go, I think its going to be worthwhile... Lou
Yeah Cathy
dance dance dancing across the water,
I'm Scottish and I dance to the diddly diddly tunes in my head........ beers
or not.
See you there :-)
Ian
C'mon Cathy. You owe it to yourself. And Lou.
And us.
We're European. We don't dance.
Until we've had at least five beers.
Welcome to London!!!

You guys are sure making it awfully hard to say no. Not saying yes yet, just
starting to look into it as a possibility. Going ahead and getting my
passport renewed (damn thing expired in Feb) so I can take the plunge if
things line up right. I've had a Euro rustfest on my rusted to do list for
many years and this may just be the one. What a fantastic triple-shot of
rustdom if I can pull it off - FarmAid, Bridge School, NYAS 05! Lou, you are

Can't believe how exciting it is just to be considering it.

Just a bit more info on the Windmill On The Common.
The rates you are seeing on the Fest website INCLUDE
a full english breakfast. Dave Armstrong and I stayed there
in 2003 and were well inpressed. Also it only cost around
£8 in the early hours for a taxi from Brixton back to the hotel.
To date there are at least 15 of us staying there so we could
in theory set up in competition to the Canterbury Arms LOL!
Lovely place to be so you can walk off the excesses of the night
before on the Common.
For those coming in cars, there is a high fenced car park belonging
to the Hotel (no charge) that is covered by CCTV cameras.
And before you ask, I am not on commission.
Cheers

This could be the most exclusive yahoo group on the web :-) Ian Scott & Paul

Anything else to go up on the site ?
You want to open it up to the rustlist yet ?
I mailed Carl, McNabb's web guy asking him to contact Ian on the fests
behalf, nothing back yet
New album sounds like its a wee cracker :-) another "old homestead"

Take care
Ian

Hello Everyone,
Testing, testin, tesgfd..
Just to say that the planning for convention '05 is under way and is
in
the very safe hands of Paul Docker and his crew. The new issue of
Broken Arrow (due at the end of August) will carry Ian's poster in
glorious technicolour urging the members to partake, and hopefully
the
performers will soon be nailed down(literally, in some cases, might
be
best).

and we'll try to help you out.
Looking forward to November.
