Hi Mervyn,

I couldn't get the link below to work!  Was down celebrating my Mum's 80th at the start of the month.  She mentioned a forthcoming anniversary for LVN and said that people were keen to find out the whereabouts of the original founding group.  Well, here I am.

Not sure if peopleare planning to try to get together, or pull together some recollections or something.  Can someone let me know?  Best email address is suzanne.vestri@....

Many thanks!

We would like to invite you to attend “Hollerday”, a site-specific dance performance for Hollerday Hill.

The project marks a special moment in the relationship between the North Devon Festival, North Devon Theatres (the project’s funders) and the local community.

Until now, the project has always been sited in Ilfracombe or Barnstaple.

A team of arts professionals, local boys and volunteers has been working on the project for over three months to deliver a nationally-acclaimed youth dance production.

If you can attend, you will have an opportunity to meet the team and key individuals from the Festival and Theatres, Devon Youth Service and arts organisations, such as Dance in Devon.

Apart from experiencing a magical night on Hollerday Hill, please come and explain to others why Lynton and Lynmouth deserve further arts/youth projects!

Tickets can be reserved at the box office, as detailed on the attached invitation.

Many thanks for your support.

Dear all,

Art Trek is taking place this week, 19th - 22nd June, as part of the North Devon Festival.  Please support the artists by advertising this event and putting up the attached poster for your visitors/customers.

10 artists will be taking part locally at West Lyn: Venue 14 in the brochure is now at the Beggars Roost pub as the new studios are not yet ready at Alta Lyn Alpacas, although there will be some work going on in the original farm studio.  All the artists will be happy to talk to visitors about their work and the exhibition at the Beggars Roost is well worth a visit.

For further details please visit the North Devon Festival website: www.northdevonfestival.org

Hoping to see you all!

Thanks for your help,

We have been asked to support our local Post Offices, this is my response to consultation@...
Please feel free to respond in what manner you wish to.

am most offended by this Governments proposals to close yet more Post Offices, most of which lay in rural area.

Everyday we are bombarded by this autocratic Government to reduce our carbon foot print, recycle this and that and yet they with one strike of a pen remove a significant number of rural post offices. The resultant of that action will mean, those that can, will have to travel further to address their need of a post office. How carbon neutral is that!! O'Kay so they say is most services of the Post Office is now available on-line, so I've got this 6" by 4" by 1" package to send by my on-line that but doesn't know how to respond even if I put the dimensions in metric. I can't fit in to my CD drive to absorbed into the 'ether' and sent to the correct address. So what options do I have other than driving to somewhere to post it. Don't forget in 5 years time it may be even more remote.

Far more serious to the above is the absolute importance of sub-post offices particularly in rural areas. Remove the sub-post offices will be the death knell for village shops, may be too corner shops in the larger towns. That too will incur a greater carbon foot print as they will have to travel further a field to get their daily necessaries.

The biggest hypocrisy is that not only of many Labour backbench MPs are actively campaigning against post office closures but so too are many of the Cabinet including Jack Straw. That's totally absurd!! Is there really a mandate for Post Office Closures?

It has been reported that to save Northern Rock Building Society it has cost every British tax payer around £250, to keep ALL Post Offices open will cost the tax payer no more then £5. Where would you want your money spending?

Is there actually an argument for closure!! I don't think so.

Best wishes
John

no Suzie, its produced by a very archaic paper cut and paste system, a
bit like Caxton's original press. Technology moves very slowly in Lynton.

Were you at the party? I wish I had known, it would have been good to
