Hi My beautiful little girl, Amber, a ruby Cavalier was diagnosed with
MVD last November, she had a scan and we were told she only had 6-9
months left. We are devestated as we lost Amber last Monday 16/2. She
was quite sick on the Sunday night and on Monday morning, she was
having terrible trouble breathing, we took her to the vet who
indicated that she didn't hold out much hope but would put her in an
oxygen tent to see if they could help her and do another scan on her
to see what had happened. We had a call a couple of hours later to say
that she collapsed every time they took her out of the oxygen tent and
the scan showed that her motral valve had completely broken away and
so the blood wasn't circulating around her body, she had no pulse in
one of her back legs and we were advised to have her put to sleep as
she wouldn't survive the day. We all went to stay with her, whilst she
was put to sleep, that is me, my husband and my two children, my 9
year old daughter and 13 year old son. We are devestated at losing
her. We had bought a little friend for her last year, Millie a
gorgeous little black and tan girl, who is now one and missing her
too. Amber had been highly medicated and had seemed to be a lot
better, although obviously we knew she wasn't cured, we had hoped for
a few more precious months with her. We miss her so much.
