Re: [MVDincavaliers] New to group

Libby,
Sorry to hear about your dogs.
Did you  see a cardiologist at Cornell?  Did they do any tests do determine the grade of mumer?  My experience is if you are not seeing a cardiologist and they did not do an xray or other test it is not an accurate diagnosis.
You should ask about Vetmedin, it is a wonder drug.  It will make their quality of life better and I believe helps to extend their life too!

Subject: [MVDincavaliers] New to group

I have just joined the group and would like to introduce myself. I have three cavaliers - two of which have MVD murmurs.

Maggie - at age 10 - 1/2, - is now a grade 3. We recently went to Cornell University for an evaluation and they said she was borderline for treatment. We are trying her on salix and enalapril to see if it makes a difference, and so far, she seems to have much more energy.

My second one, Kory, is almost 8, and was recently diagnosed with a grade 2 murmur.

My third one, Neil, age 5-1/2, is clear so far!

I am hoping to get valuable information from others on treating MVD and keeping my furkids in the best health possible.

I truely believe starting meds early in cav's with MVD.  I think it helps keep the desease under control.  Really, you should ask about adding Vetmedin!  ...
