Hi Linda:
Yes, Maggie saw a cardiologist at Cornell. We have been going to a clinic for
years and seeing the cardiologist - she is the one who has diagnosed the
murmurs. Maggie's murmur started when she was 5 and has progressed very slowly.
We have had ultrasounds done every 1-1/2 to 2 years to watch the progress. I
felt I was starting to see some changes in her energy level and decided to go
for a full evaluation. They did another ultrasound, an ex-ray, and bloodwork.
They have determined that she is borderline but decided to try the meds and see
if it makes a difference. If it didn't, they would not continue them at this
time, but I do think they are helping.
Kory was just diagnosed at the last clinic with his murmur - he has been clear
up until now. We will be following up with our vet so we can watch him and know
when he needs to have a full workup done too.
