A
festive greeting to you all,
This is a mail to draw your fine attentions to a winter pruning day at Cobden allotments on Saturday the 18th of Jan.
Do come along and bring your finest pruners (optional) to join us in a good stand around the trees, chin-scratching and pruning. We'll be engaging in the pruning of pears and apples both young and old.
So come along, learn-about formative and restorative winter pruning, or just hone your pruning skills.
No experience necessary, tools provided.
Previously at Cobden
Progress was made in the nursery with the winter tidy-up:
Mypex was laid, very neatly, on most all of the nursery beds and many large staples were fashioned (used to fix the mypex in place) -many thanks to Dom for stirling work.
Dead or weak rootstocks were weeded-out of the nursery beds to make way for last years budded stocks and newly grafted trees.
Other jobs included planting-out a number of new biomass plants into the hedge, to fill-out the plantings here and help to give better screening from winds.
Hope to see you there. Arrangements as usual:
Bring warm clothes/waterproofs.
Food to share.
Time: 11-4pm.
