Mason was born on 16th January 1986 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. His
father is Tim and his mother is Sally. Mason has a sister called
Casey. He grew up in the Chicago area and enjoys numerous sports,
computers, animals, the great outdoors and a wide variety of other
activities. He attended Lincoln Elementary School in Oak Park, IL and
later went on to Oak Park and River Forest High School in Oak Park.
Mason began his acting career at age six when director Harold Ramos
cast him in GroundHog Day. Three months later, Mason won the title
role in the hit comedy Dennis The Menace - chosen from twenty
thousand other hopefuls in a nationwide casting call launched by John
Hughes and Warner Bros. "We were looking for a good personality, some
smarts, discipline and a good sense of humor. It's a big job for a
little kid, but we wanted to have a real six-year-old play the part."
After a three year absence Mason bounced back with starring roles in
such films as Just In Time, Bad Moon and Spy Hard. He then played
Young Vincent in Gattaca and the remarkable Dirk in Rushmore. Mason
then appeared in the thriller Arlington Road with Jeff Bridges. In
2001 Mason co-starred in the CBS television series, Kate Brasher.
The roles keep coming for Mason. He will play Franlin Pou in the new
film The Rising Place. He also plays Timmy Price in A Gentlemans's
Game. Both films are set for release in 2002.
