Usefill hint i discovered today after I found a black Corsair at
weekend.
It had a stripe added with with enamel type paint and i wanted it off.
Tried gently using Thompsons uPVC cleaner (medium) and it worked a
treat - no scrathing at all. Finished with Pledge polish and its as
good as new.

Hi all. I'm new to this and not an avid collector of anything. But
many years ago I aquired some Minic stuff and have occasionally re-
visited it when I have moved houses and changed lofts.
I have one or two models that do not appear on your lists. The best
one is a Rolls Royce in grey. there is also what I think is an
unusual steam wagon in blue with a brass chimey comming out through
the cab roof. I think the other one is a Humber big saloon car of
some type in green. There is a Jaguar with several bodies in
different colours, one of them is black with a hole on the roof. I
think is was a Police car in a former life. They all have shiny
plastic bumpers and lights. and they still run.
I've got some old track and some parts including what I think is a
three axle bus/coach chassis. There is also a red sports car in a box
but it has a different type of power pick up system. The others have
a wheel system underneath but the sports car has two sprung brass
pickups. Looks like a later and improved model.
None of this stuff is in the best condition. But not bad. I was
keeping it in the hope I could incorporate a small piece in a railway
system one day. I am afraid to mess with it too much in case I damage
it or wear it out as I have no idea where to get spares.
Would this stuff be of any interest to anyone out there. In my modest
searches I have not seen anything like these are they unusual?
Please feel free to contact me by email "p.chinnick@....

Does anyone have any idea where we can find a complete list of all
Minic Motorway parts. We found one online some months ago and saved it
to favourites on the computer - then the computer crashed and lost the
information and now we can't find the web page again!!

The other alternative is to look for a green van.
There are some around but not the most common version.

To remove the body, you need to prise the base off followed by the
glazing. Nothing special from memory, just glue.
Cheers
Dave

Hi, I do hope this does not offend anyone but I want to take a Thames
Van to pieces in order to paint it. Does anyone have any instructions
on such a task. The reason: I collect cars/vehicles that have been in
our family, the model I have is orange and one of my earliest car
memories is helping my dad do grocery deliveries in a dark green
Thames.

Hi all,I now require for my alpine collection minix silver wheel
alpines in- - bright blue, pale green, and white. I can offer to swap
a mint boxed red anglia for a nice unboxed white alpine. I can also
offer a mint boxed pale green vauxhall victor 101 in exchange for
either a pale green unboxed alpine or a bright blue unboxed alpine.
Anyone feel like a swap?

Hi all, I,m the new kid on the block, my names Doug Hey and I only
collect alpines.

I've been in touch with George for a few weeks so I thought I'd
better join the group.

I only have a few colours of alpine at the moment and need :-

bright blue,lime green,black,pale green,deep yellow,and white.

I have no swaps as yet.(George has had what I had) but am keeping an
eye open for cars. I am willing to buy if anyone has a surplus of the
colours I need, but I won't hold my breath on that approach.

Dear Chaps,

A few years ago the Train Collectors Society published the first edition of
the 'Toy & Model Train Club Directory', which contained contact details of
around 50 collectors clubs for those interested in toy and model trains.

Our aim then was to put the contact information for these useful
organisations into a useful medium.

The directory was soon launched on the internet and has ever since been an
important part of our web site www.traincollectors.org.uk . More recently a
listing of E-Groups was added.

Please use these links to view these works:

Collectors Clubs: http://www.traincs.demon.co.uk/other_clubs.htm
E-Groups: http://www.traincs.demon.co.uk/e-groups1.htm

The document and web versions have been through several updates and editions
since then and have grown quite a bit. Over the next couple of months we
propose to thoroughly update this section of our web site, [posting revised
contact details, subscription details etc where appropriate.]

This is quite a task, so to help us get going, please could members of this
group take a look at the site and let us know of any changes that the are
aware of relating to groups or clubs that they have contact with, or a
members of?

(Before anyone says anything about the entries relating to the Bayko
Collectors Club, Bowman Circle or the HRCA, we have new entries on way for
all these, two of which should be posted by the weekend).

Please send details of any changes you are aware of to:
tcsinformation@...

If you have problems with any other links on our site, please mail these to
our Webmaster Tony Stanford stationmaster@...

Many thanks and best wishes,

Thank you for your posting, James.

It is interesting to note the load on this trailer includes planks.
I have not heard of this before and it is not mentioned by Pat
Hammond in "The Story of Rovex - volume 2". There, he describes this
item as "High-sided Trailer and Ladders" and goes on to say "The
vehicle had high sides and a bar across with slide stops on which the
two ladders could lean."

Is the owner sure that the load is original or can anyone else lend
support here?

If this is an original load it is a very interesting - and new - item
of information to add to my knowledge of Minix.

Thanks again

Dear All,

I have just uploaded the following file to the section for the group:

http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/MinixCars/files/Minix%20Box%20Trailer.jpg

This is an image taken by Dave White at the Wrenn Collectors Club event on
13th October.

As you will see it is the rare Blue Box Trailer complete with load, although
please accept our apologies for the item not being entirely clear.

One thing that we noted from our examination of the model: The ladders and
planks appear to be unique to this model and are not the same as supplied
with anything else that we are aware of. The ladder is thin and moulded in
yellow, whilst the planks are cream and in several different sizes.

These are not the items supplied with the Tri-ang Model Land RML 21
Semi-Built Bermuda Bungalow as I had hoped, (as I can supply replicas of
these!).

I am most grateful to the owners for their kindness in allowing the model to
be examined and photographed and I also respect their privacy.

This is the only complete one that I have ever seen. The other two I have
seen are sadly missing the load.

Best wishes,
                      James

hi there
I have found another version of the cresta that i was
previously unaware. Yesterday I found an orange version of the car.
At first glance I thought it was red but it has been confirmed as
orange. I felt this may be of interest to fellow collectors.

Dear All

Thank you, hawthorns99, for your last post.

I have seen models where the bases have been swapped but this is only
feasible where the base is already loose or where it can be separated
from the car body without causing damage (all too easy with plastic
cars which have been glued together!).

I think the reason why many collectors will only swap rather than
sell (especially where rare cars are concerned) is because it is
often the only way to get other collectors to part with their
rare/scarce models. I recently obtained a white Rambler for my
collection, but only because I had a spare Rambler in a different
colour available as a replacement. If I had previously sold my spare
Rambler I would not have been able to acquire that white one which
has now enhanced my collection.

Best wishes

With regard to the pale green triumph. Unfortunatly i only have one
example and that is missing a few bits of the bumper. I dont know if
it is possible to borrow chassis from other versions and swap them.
If anyone has a spare cresta in blue, white or red and is interested
in selling then feel free to get in contact. I know many collectors
would rather swap, but i have hardly any doubles in my collection. I
often find examples hard enough to get once.

Dear Hawthorns99 and members generally

Thank you, Hawthorns99, for letting us know that you have a pale
green Triumph 2000.

I don't have one of these and I have not seen one nor (until now)
heard of anyone who actually has one.

However, information regarding MINIX holdings is very thin on the
ground and it does not necessarily follow that this is a rare car
(but do you have a spare???)!

Other model/colour variations I have yet to come across or hear about
are:

Hillman Minx in emerald green

Simca 1300 in pale green

Austin 1800 in red and blue.

I would be pleased to hear from any members who have, or have seen,
any of the above.

Do they exist - or not?

Best wishes

I write with regard to the question posed regarding whether the
triumph had ever been made in pale green. One of the first minix
models that i ever owned was such an example with a silver base. I am
presuming that the pale green is the lightest of the 3 greens
produced. I didnt realise that this was a colour hard to come by
