Have you ever been challenged for photography in a public
place? Or stopped from enjoying your hobby of taking
pictures for so-called security reasons?
This groups is intended to be a forum for photographers
to discuss their legal rights when pursuing their
particular form of self-expression, be it professionally
or purely for amateur enjoyment.
The aim is to help and advise each other on what is allowed, where one is allowed to do it and, most importantly, how to handle that confrontational situation
between the photographer and the jobs-worth security
guard in a polite and professional manner.
The list owner is based in the UK.
But feel free to discuss applicable laws in
other countries as there will always be similarities and
concepts in common.
The list owner has no specialist
legal knowledge but has come across more and more
situations recently in which his right to take photographs
has been illegally challenged. Hence the creation of
this group
Most importantly remember - the advice in this group may
be worth exactly what you paid for it, and no
responsibility can be taken for inaccuracies of any form.
