Dear Kate,
Women's Cycling Website Update
March 8 is International Women's Day, the universal day that connects all women
around the world and inspires them to achieve their full potential. The women's
cycling network is celebrating Australia's female cycling community with some
changes to www.womenscycling.com.au
Following your suggestions and feedback, we have made some minor alternations to
the look and navigation of the site. There is also some great new content,
including an updated 'Where to Ride' section, meaning we are now bigger and
better than ever!
Ride car-free at Kew Boulevard, March 12
This Sunday, Bicycle Victoria is once again offering cyclists the opportunity to
ride car-free at Kew Boulevard. From 6am until midday, the road will be closed
to all motorised traffic, providing cyclists with an ideal opportunity to have a
hit-out on one of Victoria's most popular riding circuits.
Between 8 and 10 am there will be time trials, in which cyclists race against
the clock to see how fast they can complete a lap of the Boulevard (12km). There
will also be a cycling mini-festival, with bike shops, clubs and information on
hand so you can learn more about getting into bike riding, competitions,
triathlon and more. And very importantly, Portfolio Partners will again be
providing free coffee!
Visit Bicycle Victoria to find out more and register for this great event.
Women's Tent @ Sunday Circuits, March 12
Following the success of the breakfast that launched the women's cycling
website, we are now organising a number of women's cycling events in 2006. The
first will be an informal and fun gathering at this Sunday's Kew Boulevard
event.
The Cycling Promotion Fund and Bicycle Victoria are sponsoring a Women's Cycling
Tent - a space for women to relax, enjoy free refreshments, find out about the
website and meet other female cyclists, including women from a range of cycling
organisations and some of the Spokes Girls, who rode up Mt Buller in the Holden
High Country Challenge last Saturday.
So this Sunday, have an enjoyable ride along the Boulevard with your friends and
then drop in to the Women's Cycling Tent to take some much-deserved time out.
Hope to see you there,
Lisa
