Yes, it's true. The elusive Dr Moss has finally stoked up his steam-

technical whizzkids call it!
Good to know we've still got a forum, now in its third incarnation if

The BBC confirmed today that it will reveal the identity of the
Eleventh Doctor as part of a special edition of Doctor Who
Confidential to be aired on BBC ONE tomorrow, Saturday 03 January at
17:35hrs.
Following the announcement in October that David Tennant would be
stepping down from his role as the Doctor at the end of 2009*,
speculation has been mounting as to who would take over from him for
the fifth series of this iconic BBC drama that will air in 2010.
With a new creative team in place for the new series led by Executive
Producers Steven Moffat and Piers Wenger, the casting of the new
Doctor was job number one to be completed before scripts could be
finalised and shooting could begin in summer 2009.
In the Doctor Who special, to be aired tomorrow at 17.35hrs, the
actor playing the new Doctor will be giving his or her initial
reaction to being the new, eleventh incarnation of one of
television's most loved characters.
Head Of Drama BBC Wales Piers Wenger said, "We are so pleased to have
been able to cast this person as the new Doctor. We believe the actor
is going to bring something very special to the role and will make it
absolutely their own - I just can't wait to tell everyone who it is -
it has been a nail biting Christmas trying to keep this under wraps!".
* There will be four Doctor Who Specials featuring David Tennant that
will run in 2009 into New Year 2010 (dates tbc).
The Doctor Who Confidential programme will also be broadcast live on
the BBC's Big Screens nationwide.
Doctor Who Confidential - The Eleventh Doctor: Saturday, January 3rd -
17:35hrs, BBC ONE

Okay, guys. So most of you know that I've had some changes in my
personal life, which put me back in South Yorkshire for the
foreseeable. There was some talk (not mooted by me, I might hastily
add) of meeting a second time a month in Manchester (which is easier
for me to get to).
In other news, the next meeting (for the rest of you) should be on
the third. Someone will need to give the landlord (whose name escapes
me) a list of the dates of the first Wednesday of the month, to avoid
another double-booking.
Thirdly, Kev has stated a disinterest in organising the next
convention. This leaves the slot open to an individual or committee
to do it in his stead. There are a number in the coming year,
including one which advertises Tom Baker's attendance. '10th
Planet', 'Dimensions' and 'Who At the Cavern' are three names worth
Googling.
Lastly, for those of you who are interested, the girl who contacted
me on Second Life in the middle of next year has expressed a desire
to attend the next meeting. If she does, at least pretend you're not
lecherous geeks and be welcoming.
That's all. I hope to see some of you at some point in the new year,
but as this pretty much puts an end to my coming to the regular
meetings indefinitely, I want to say that it's been a pleasure, and
it's one of the things I'll miss most about Preston.
Big D, Quaffer Extraordinaire.
I'd heard the rumour about the multi-Doctor story. Don't know what'll
come of that.
As for 'The Other Doctor', I'll wager whatever you like that he's not
the next Doctor. It's just RTD teasing us, like with the almost-
regeneration.
It's Children in Need night on the BBC today, and we can expect some
Doctor Who content.
The BBC have announced the the first two minutes of this year's
Christmas special, 'The Next Doctor' will be shown tonight.
http://tinyurl.com/5bvh76
From that bastion of truth, the Daily Mirror, comes an even more
intriguing announcement about tonight - 'All surviving Doctor Who
actors to appear in one-off TV special'
http://tinyurl.com/5gjmba
Finally, on an unrelated tangent, has anyone here seen the unofficial
Doctor Who collectible card game? If you want to play the game, you'll
need to print out the cards yourself. Take a look at -
http://siskoid.com/Whoccg
For those of you who get emailed these messages, sorry about that.
Spambots are one hazard of having open membership. I figured for you
oldies, that'd be best, but if you want me to make it invite only, or
have me vet any new members, that's doable too. If you have any
opinion on the matter, let me know.
Andy.
