Dear friends,
following our new theme in the group, I have uploaded two music
tracks in the files-group themes section:
http://uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/Radif/files/Group%20Themes/
these tracks are related to one of the most celebrated Tar players,
the legendary Ali-Akbar Shahnazi. his innovations in technique and
composition for Tar has inspired many musicians for at least the next
two generations after him .
this composition is not based on Dastgah system and the mode of the
piece is not of the normal modes in Dastgah music. however the melody
in parts is similar to different parts of Radif but the approach is
to create a Novel tune.
this approach (creating new modes)is visible in Persian music through
out the history. the current example of course would be Hosein
Alizade's approach to the new mode; so-called Dad-o-Bidad.
I don't want to get to the theory at all so I leave the discussion to
whom are interested and their questions or comments.
any how you can hear about 50 seconds of the original recording with
tar and Violin (Mansouri) and in the next file I have offered a
reconstruction of the piece by myself, Abdul Saied on Violin and F.
Kiani on Tombak, from the album "Music of the Old Tehran" , which I
hope it comes out sometimes this year.
best regards
TBN.
