Rinaldi Sings make the charts of this months Mojo magazine Readers
Top 10 with Luck Day. "The one track I can't get off the CD deck at
the moment", says Billy70. "It was the double a-side of their recent
single Avenues & Alleyways, and it's kind of David Bowie/Anthony
Newley circa 1967/68".

The following email was from Biff Bang Pow Records about the Mod Aid

------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi everyone,

Less than a week to go now until the Mod Aid 20 single is recorded,
so here's the latest details: -

followed by guitar and keyboards. He's looking to get onto lead
vocals by mid afternoon (Saturday) with the backing vocals/chorus on
Saturday evening and Sunday morning, followed by mixing.

Video: Ed Ball has arranged for the weekend to be filmed for a "Fly
On the Wall" documentary and promotional video for the single, and
has asked that all participants arrive suitably Mod attired.

Press: We are getting strong interest from Mojo, Uncut, NME, FHM and
Record Collector – thus, please be aware that these publications may
be present over the course of the recording weekend.

Saturday Night: Rob Bailey of the New Untouchables (one of our
sponsors) has kindly offered all contributors free admission to his
Majik Potion Club on Saturday night (10 pm to 3 am).

Contact/Attendance Details: For all those that have not already done
so, could you please let me have a mobile telephone number for your
band and a list of band member's names who will be attending.

See you next weekend.

Kind regards,

The deadline for the Redskins tribute is the end of January. So far I
have 9 tracks in and I am waiting for another 7. Currently I'm
looking for a March/April release date for the tribute. Looks like we
will be hearing a bit more of the Redskins next year with Cherry Red
Records hoping to reissue the Redskins album "Neither Washington Nor
Moscow" and Insurgence Records from Canada looking to release a
Redskins DVD. I'm really looking forward to hearing Steve Rinaldi's
cover of Hold on and also the Rinaldi Sings album.

Cheers,

The Redskins tribute album will be out next year. There is already a
limited 5 track Redskins tribute EP called A Flame That Can't Be
Dimmed out now on 10 inch red vinyl. You can find out more info on
the tribute album at my Redskins website - http://www.redskins.co.uk
Also you can hear The Che Men's version of "Keep On Keepin' On" on
New Sounds From The Underground -
http://www.soundclick.com/stations/stations.cfm?id=109217
The speech at the start of the song is by Durham miner Norman Strike
who appeared on The Tube with the Redskins back in 1984.

The Redskins were a great band. Don't know about Hold On, but think
Rinaldi Sings could do a stomping version of Keep On Keeping On. Any
more details on the Redskins tribute - what's it called, when's it
coming out, who's on it, who's putting it out?

Haven't come across any bootlegs yet, although I was told that the band's live
set at The
garage was recorded for possible release - but I haven't heard it myself. The
best you can
get at the moment is to listen to several tracks from the album on the official
website

The 'Avenues & Alleyways' single is the only Rinaldi Sings product out
at the moment, but the debut album, 'What's It All About', is being
released by Tangerine Records in January. And I hear that there will
be another single at the same time, but I haven't heard what song it
will be yet. I've been told the A-side will be from the album and the
b-sides will be exclusive to the single. I've heard the recordings of
the b-sides - there's a great uptempo northern sounding number called
'Romeo & Juliet', and a song called 'Julie Barber' which sounds quite
like 'Waterloo Sunset'.

Thanks for the Rinaldi Sings radio session. Thought 'Come Again' was

'LUCKY DAY' is easily my favourite track on the single. Think it's like very
early David Bowie - that great cockney vocal, a bit like Love You Till Tuesday.
What does anyone else think? Best song of the three tracks on the single?

To those of you in the Rinaldi Sings group who asked about radio

I've got the Radio Suffolk session on tape. The quality of the

brilliant but the songs are really good. Accoustic versions of Come

You're Alive.

Anyone seen the photo exhibition in Colchester? It's called Uptown and Steve

There's also some pics of Steve advertising the event in the window of one of

Colchester until October 8.

I've started a website about the live gigs of Rinaldi Sings. It lists every gig
that the band
has done, plus the full set lists for every gig. if anyone has pics or flyers
for any of the
gigs, please let me know.

If you went to any of the gigs, you can post your opinion on the website - it
would be
great to see other people's verdicts on the gigs.
