Good points on both sides here.
However, the kzinti carrying it into battle like a high-tech "ark of
the covenant" would make the job of those who came to steal it (The
players in this case) way too easy. So, for entirely practical game
reasons I decided in favour of "well defended unique priceless device".
Hmm. Now that I've written them into this situation, I may need to
work out HOW they are going to steal it for them :-).
