Since we've been back following the summer break we've had rather
depleted numbers at rehearsals. We had a long discussion about it
last Saturday and a couple of things came up.
One was that because the rehearsals are so far apart if you miss one
then it's quite a big deal and you have an enormous gap in between
practices. The other was that Saturday mornings aren't always all
that convenient.
So... we have come up with a plan. I'd really like some feedback on
whether you want to go ahead with this so if you weren't at the
rehearsal last weekend please could you reply and say whether you
think this is a good idea or not!
Here is my grand plan:
1st Saturday of the month - 11am-12.30pm (arriving earlier for
breakfast if you want)
For the rest of the month we would meet on SUNDAY evenings from
7.30pm-9pm.
I've put down for 90 minute rehearsals as that's probably quite
tiring enough if we're doing it every week and I don't want to strain
any voices! (I know some of you sing in other things as well!) It
would mean starting as promptly as possible to make the best use of
time. Then afterwards we can go down to the pub for a natter! (Or on
Saturdays arrive early and natter over breakfast.) The idea of
meeting every week also means that if you miss one rehearsal you
still have 3 other chances that month to get to one, and you wont
have to wait as long for the next one.
I'd really enjoy the fact that our rehearsals are quite fun and laid
back, but we also achieve a lot. I'd like to keep that sort of ethos
going, but we have to also remember that we have three performances
lined up in December and so far we have not-quite-mastered one song
and learnt the tune for one other!!
I can't start Sunday rehearsals for a couple of weeks yet anyway as
I'm going to be away, so we've got a little while to decide.
Let me know what you think
