I look forward to the arrival of the IOW simulation for windows. The trial runs exceedingly well.
One small point I have encountered is with the loco on the 3.01am freight Cowes - St Johns It seems that under at least the most difficult simulation the loco arrives needing coal (and water?). However if water is provided at the time of coaling, which the system sometimes permits, then a second watering is required before being it is sent down around 6am as part a double light engine movement. I couldn't get this error when running the difficult weekday level so maybe it only occurs at the highest level.
Another feature which is annoying rather than an error is if one does not specifically allocate a loco, even if the correct one is used for a train ex Ryde, the system continues to call for the allocation long after the train has arrived at its destination. Only a restart will cure the error. I hope that the full version might have the possibility of cancelling this message, subject to a penalty of course.
Otherwise it is an extremely worthwhile experiment in moving to Windows with all the vital information at one's fingertips rather than the sheaves of paper or continual backtracking to the necessary help screens that DOS systems require. With everything to hand it becomes a more immediately enjoyable operation. The onscreen warning notes of outstanding actions are invaluable and provide the 'senior management' overview of the Fat Controller keeping one on the ball at all times.

The time is coming, we hope in months rather than years, for us to produce our first Windows-only simulation. This is intended to look and feel similar to Brian's trial version of Isle of Wight.
It would be helpful to know how many of you are still running something other than XP or Vista, and would have trouble running a Win-32 application, or accessing a .chm help file. Looking to the future, it seems to make sense to use the latest base point we can, to push as far as possible into the future the time when MS pull the rug out from under us again.
