This seems to happen sometimes with XP, and always with Vista. I've not
found any way round it except the solution suggested on our web site: to
use DOSBox or something similar. The problem is simply that Microsoft
are deliberately gradually removing support for DOS applications.

As it happens, all our machines now run Linux as their primary operating
system, but DOSBox is also available for Linux, and the sims run fine in
that environment.

We are now working on making future simulations be genuine Windows
applications, but it is not yet clear how much effort would be required
to convert all the existing ones.
