Banna Lesbian Housing Co-op presents . . . a tour around the gay bars and other hang-outs for lesbians and their friends in Nottingham. It's a chance to meet new people, and take away information on how to keep up-to-date with what's on.
Meeting outside the Broadway Cinema (or in foyer if raining) on Broad Street in Hockley (NG1 3AL) at 7.30pm, walking to the New Forresters (with a nod to other gay friendly pubs, clubs and bars on the way) and ending up at Niche at 9pm for the women-only 'Lipstick Lounge' monthly singer/songwriter night. There's no charge.
All welcome, either new to Nottingham or just wanting an evening out. Email bannahousing@... if you have any questions. Otherwise, see you on 3rd July! We'll be wearing rainbow badges so you can spot us :o)
Please pass this onto anyone who may be interested in coming.

If
Shiva can wear lipstick why cant I? This exhibition provides the viewer
with a glimpse into the experiences and documented history of Asian
LGBT communities. The show includes works that is a historical journey
into Asian LGBT identities, such as Poulomi Desai's book `Red Threads';
a photographic journey taken over 10 years documenting Asian queer life
in the UK, and Maya Chowdhry's and Vijay Patel's investigation of the
sexuality and sensuality of Indian deities.
Present
day narratives are explored through Maya's visual poetry and the artist
Vijay Patel's drawings. Documentation taken from a project between
Manchester based artists Sphere and a local LGBT group, in which
members individually created their own bed installations; each
expressing their own personal histories through sound, visual art and
projection continue the dialogue. The exhibition poses the question;
how `invisible' or hidden are these communities that have historically
been an integral part of the diversity Indian culture?

Hello,
I am a Nottingham-based professional playwright and
I'm hoping some of you will be able to help in my
research. I've written a play which will be staged in
June 2007 and features two young gay Asian men who are
lovers. If possible, I would like to have a chat with
someone from your group, to make sure my characters
experiences are accurate. I am NOT looking for 'your
story' but am hoping you can advise me as to whether
or not the story I've created is true to life.
Ideally, I'd like to meet up for a coffee or talk over
the phone. If you can spare half an hour or so,
please email me at playwrightorwrong@...
Thank you.
Amanda

Hello,
As there have been a few members interested in meeting up, I would
like to arrange one.
The following is what I suggest:
Thursday 8th Feb
We go along to watch the film, The Journey, at Broadway cinema.
We can meet at a Cafe between 6pm and 6.20pm if any members feel they
want to do that and then go to Broadway together- let me know on that
one with a prefered meeting point.
Thursday 15th Feb
We can have a meeting for just us on this day. I would suggest Alley
cafe: http://www.alleycafe.co.uk/
It has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. It is located in a
courtyard off Long Row which is one of the streets extending off
Market Square in Nottingham Centre.
Thanks,
Sandeep
im up for it

Hi, I am writing in response to the frequently asked question: how can
I view other members?
My answer at the moment: I'm not sure you can. To be completely
honest, I don't have a comprehensive knowledge of the yahoo group set
up and I've been looking to see if there is any kind of settings but
there doesn't seem to be.
If anyone does have an answer, I'd be pleased to know.
Also, I was thinking that perhaps some people wouldn't want to be seen.
I hope this helps-well, it obviously doesn't but perhaps it will let
you all know that I do actually read your posts and questions!
Sand.
Are members interested in meeting up?
There are various LGBT history events going on that we could join in on.
Or if people are worried about that, which I can understand.. we can
arrange to meet at a cafe or something.
There doesn't need to be massive amounts of interest, even just a few
members meeting for a quiet hot chocolate can be arranged if it would
be useful.
