Calling all lesbian writers

Sapphist Writers are a network of lesbian writers who meet at Nottingham Women's Centre on the 3rd Tuesday of each month and also network and share writing online.

All lesbian writers and would be writers country-wide are welcome. The purpose of the network is support, development of creativity, exploration and exchange of ideas.  We are working towards creating an anthology of lesbian writing that reflects a diversity of lesbian identities and we welcome submissions from non-members of poetry and prose relating to any aspect of lesbian experience.

Please contact sapphistwriters@... for further information or to submit a piece of writing for the anthology.

Do come along if you can, it's a nice day out and if you're still in
the closet you can still come along... plenty of people go along just
to show their support so don't be afraid. I will definately be there!

It's important to enjoy being yourself.

Again, if nobody mentions on here that they want to meet, then I'm not
really happy to go and socialise on my own!
LOL
I hope everybody is OK.
I'm still open to suggestions for meets though.

If I don't hear from anyone about meeting up, I'm assuming nobody
wants to. That is OK.. just hope nobody turns up without letting me
know coz then I might not hang around.

Hello,
I am a Nottingham-based professional playwright and
I'm hoping some of you will be able to help in my
research. I've written a play which will be staged in
June 2007 and features two young gay Asian men who are
lovers. If possible, I would like to have a chat with
someone from your group, to make sure my characters
experiences are accurate. I am NOT looking for 'your
story' but am hoping you can advise me as to whether
or not the story I've created is true to life.
Ideally, I'd like to meet up for a coffee or talk over
the phone. If you can spare half an hour or so,
please email me at playwrightorwrong@...
Thank you.
Amanda

Hello,

As there have been a few members interested in meeting up, I would
like to arrange one.

The following is what I suggest:

Thursday 8th Feb

We go along to watch the film, The Journey, at Broadway cinema.
We can meet at a Cafe between 6pm and 6.20pm if any members feel they
want to do that and then go to Broadway together- let me know on that
one with a prefered meeting point.

Thursday 15th Feb

We can have a meeting for just us on this day. I would suggest Alley
cafe: http://www.alleycafe.co.uk/
It has a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. It is located in a
courtyard off Long Row which is one of the streets extending off
Market Square in Nottingham Centre.

Thanks,
Sandeep

Hi, I am writing in response to the frequently asked question: how can
I view other members?

My answer at the moment: I'm not sure you can. To be completely
honest, I don't have a comprehensive knowledge of the yahoo group set
up and I've been looking to see if there is any kind of settings but
there doesn't seem to be.

If anyone does have an answer, I'd be pleased to know.

Also, I was thinking that perhaps some people wouldn't want to be seen.

I hope this helps-well, it obviously doesn't but perhaps it will let
you all know that I do actually read your posts and questions!

Sand.

Are members interested in meeting up?
There are various LGBT history events going on that we could join in on.
Or if people are worried about that, which I can understand.. we can
arrange to meet at a cafe or something.

There doesn't need to be massive amounts of interest, even just a few
members meeting for a quiet hot chocolate can be arranged if it would
be useful.

Hello Group.

Our members on this forum, keeps on growing, however no one actually
posts any messages or arranges any specific events!

So as the group moderator, I thought I should take the liberty of
doing something about this!

On Saturday 11th November 2006, is Rang Night 2nd Birthday... Rang
Night is a South Asian LGBT club night in the Leicester area, that
keep it real with their style, and jammin the way they do - to
celebrate their 2nd Birthday!

Please check out their website for more information!

www.rangnight.co.uk

If anyone from the SASSI Nottingham is interested! Please forward
some responses! I hoping to make the meeting point at Leicester
Train Station, however times for meeting is 9:00pm to 9:30pm, and
from there on we'll go for some drinks, laughs and giggles and head
towards to a sensational evening of true bhangra, giddha and laughter
at Rang Night!

See you there!

Sam x
