Hi Natalia and Judith,
Much thanks for your comments.
"Thank goodness that our diocese is not part of all that."
Problem being, my thoughts at least, that if we're not sufficiently
pro-active, it may well in the future become a part of it.
"I think we are in no problem area here in Newcastle - but the Hawkesbury is
Very Close !!!!! Also - I think St Aug's is ok-ish about this - don't you?"
The Hawkesbury is very close.
St Aug's is ok at the moment, but what happens if we get a minister, or a
local presiding bishop, who is fervently supportive, the point of view of
GAFCON? What then?
Approx eleven percent of the population is same sexed, or bisexual,
attracted; and, approximately one percent of the population are
transgendered. (For estimates, in the later population, see, eg,
http://ai.eecs.umich.edu/people/conway/TS/TSprevalence.html)
If we drive away from our diocese the population who are GLBT, then we stand
to not only lose many valuable members, but we stand to lose many potential
financial contributions as well.
Is that what we want? Somehow, I rather doubt it.
well wishes,
Kaete
