Thanks to everyone who came along to Sunday's 'tango - mano a mano' at Club Salsa.
I am pleased to announce the next 'tango - mano a mano' in Cambridge will held this Sunday - 7th September - it will return to the Sorrento Hotel.
The Sorrento is very different to Club Salsa - very Mediterranean in style. Three hours of dancing to beautiful music await you starting at 7pm. ChrisJJ will DJ the main slot of the evening so a great selection of music is guaranteed.
John Connatty will give a lesson at 6pm. I am really excited about this lesson - the topic is 'Reversed Roles'. Women leading - men following! This is something that many Cambridge dancers have expressed an interest in for some time.
As you know during the early days of tango in Argentina leaders would be expected to carry out what amounted to an 'apprenticeship' where they would spend many months learning the followers part. It was only then that they would be allowed to lead experienced dancers. They believed that being able to dance both parts brought more understanding to their dancing and allowed them to dance in a much more sensitive way - both as a leader and as a follower. Exactly the same is true for women. Why not come along and give it a try? And ladies remember to bring trainer or flat shoes - leading in heels can very difficult.
But please don't worry if you do not feel comfortable to swap the lead/follow - you are welcome to join in the class dancing your usual role.
