If you tried to book previously you may have been told that there were no more places available.  Following a check on numbers you  MAY now  be able to get one of the few class places that have been reserved for walk-in bookings, but there DEFINITELY ARE MORE PLACES available for the milonga in the evening – either book in beforehand or take a chance on a drop-in place.

either on-line at http://www.danceeast.co.uk/news/article/35 or by phone via Dance East on 01473 295237.

Ipswich – Christchurch Park – Spiegeltent Milonga

Friday 3rd July – 8-30pm to 11:30pm

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to dance in the spectacular Spiegeltent in Christchurch Park this Friday

This magnificent Spiegeltent (see attached picture), literally meaning ‘mirror tent’ in German, will be the first of its kind in East Anglia. A beautiful wooden structure with a dazzling interior of mirrored booths surrounding a wooden dance floor, creating the perfect intimate space for dance performances, workshops and classes, or simply a relaxing drink at the bar, along with a host of other dance surprises!  Argentine Tango is just one of dozens of events to be hosted in the tent.

The Spielgetent was specifically designed as an entertainment venue during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The tents were transported around the country and assembled at town fairs in areas that did not have a proper dance hall, bringing dance to those who could not afford or that did not have access to such entertainment. Only a handful of Spiegeltents remain in existence today, and these survivors continue to travel around Europe and beyond, often as a feature attraction at major international arts festivals, and one is now coming to a venue near you.

Kate Isotta and Tony Ramsey will be DJs so expect an evening of the best tango music, excellent dance floor with seating around mirrored booths for an intimate experience.  This is THE milonga of the year – be there.  There will be a bar and some refreshments, inc ice cream.

The tent is at the North East end of the Park near the Westerfield Road/Gainsborough Rd entrance.  Either park in the street or  in Charles Street car park  – see googlemap.

Tickets, only £5 (£4 concessions) should be purchased in advance – either on-line at http://www.danceeast.co.uk/news/article/35 or by phone via Dance East on 01473 295237.

Want to start tango or learn more tango then try the classes from Kate Isotta and Tony Ramsey earlier in the day

Improvers – 5pm to 6:30pm – only £4 (£3 concessions).  Focus will be on boleos (leg flicks)

Beginners -7pm to 8:30pm – only £4 (£3 concessions)

                Milonga – 8:30pm to 11pm – only £5 (£4 concessions)

Prior booking - either on-line at http://www.danceeast.co.uk/news/article/35 or by phone Dance East on 01473 295237

We hope to meet you all there
