anyone know of a good repair shop that could so the gearbox for me??
Am based in Midlands but travel a fair bit. Bike great, really miss
it. Previous owner K&Ns, race cans, remapped. Have old Genesis to get
out on but I know as soon as the warm weather starts will get the urge.
I hope bent selector fork, did 3 runs up drag strip Bulldog Bash, best
12 seconds I've had in a longtime but gearbox went 2 weeks after -

membership of jerry4ride, I had a look at the sites he was plugging
and its basically a site to contact "hot sexy biker women and blokes

I can report that Hagons have finally got their act together and now
produce a shock for the S, it is based on their R unit but without the
spring and utilises mounting plates and spacers much like the White
Power set up, its a straight replacement for the dodgy rotary damper
and is priced at £255uk which includes postage and vat, take my word
for it - IT WORKS
dont know if any one here is an ex Planet user now Zone?? cos I have
posted this there as well...but in case not just some info that may be
of interest - Hagons WILL have a unit available for the S in about 8
weeks priced same as the rest of their monoshocks £255 in uk

I should have mentioned that it is a TLS. That is why I was specifying
the Bitubo particularly - I'd not come across any others that replaced
the spring on the S. I'm glad to see that I was correct - it doesn't
happen often. ;-)
I placed a similar request in another place (TLPlanet) and have spoken
to guy who is happy to sell me one he has already. This will mean I
don't have to wait for the factory lead times etc. and can be back on
the road ASAP.

Mine went sometime during last week - found it while cleaning the bike
on Sunday. It probably explains the evil handling I was experiencing
towards the end of the week....
Where did you get a Bitubo from? I've sent emails to both the company
and a supplier in the states but I'm yet to hear anything back.
I use the TL as day to day transport and after two days in the car I'm
bored out of my crust!
Ideally I could do with finding a fix before the end of the week! Is
there anything other than the Bitubo that sits in the place of
the 'spring-on-a-stick' because obviously the damper side fixing is
now US.

hi all, if anyone is interested I have a brand new Hagon shok for a
TLR, it replaces both the rotary damper & stock spring, they retail at
£255, I want £200 for it, its still in its box.......... call me at
work on 01707 265000 if you are interested, I bought it hoping it
would fit a TLS but got round that a different way,

The frame was welded. I had it done in Hertford at a place near the Harris
people. I believe
Harris take bits to this guy.
I can't remember his name at the moment. I'll try and find his details for you,
as he did an
excellent job.

Also happened to my TL. Suzuki would not replace the frame but I had it repaired
very nicely and it's been fine since.
I ditched the rotary damper in favour of a Maxton unit. No problems since.

hi David, Ive had the opportunity now to ride TLS's with the std
rotary, White Power, Ohlins and my own unit and a TLR with std rotary
& the Hagon unit, bottom line is both the TLS & TLR rotary's are as
bad as each other, bloody scary & totally unpredictable, typical dopey
b*std that I am I thought ..they cant be that bad, I even tried them
less the steering dampers to get a true response ... aargh.. dont go
there.. I have to say the Ohlins is the best I have tried, so supple &
responsive yet totally under control, it completely transforms the
bike, but I also have to say Hagons dont half run it close, they have
after all developed it from a Koni unit which is what Maxton use.. if
you are any where near Hertfordshire you are more than welcome to try
it for yourself, I rate it & will be keeping one on my own TLS,
incidently Hagons also do progressive spring kit for the bike as well,
I can get 10% off their products for TAS members, I'm going to try &
sell my old WP unit & the TEK unit on ebay if you are interested,

I have a '97 TL.
I put up with the standard rotary damper for a while but I was
getting a lot of weaving and bucking at high speeds, especially in
high speed corners. I looked around and their were offering from
quite a few firms, Ohlins, White power, Pro-tek etc. All were very
expensive. Some replaced the damper and the shock (up the side) and
some just replaced the damper.
In the end I decided to go for an Ohlins unit. This was due to the
build quality, the reputation and availability.
The fit was good and easy to do with adjustment simple as well. Full
fitting instruction were enclosed.
The weaving has gone and the handling is much better.
I would recommend the change to anyone.
I am a big bugger and this did minimise the effects of the original
damper but I am glad I made te change.
As for the front forks, I have found that I bottom them out a lot and
have turn up the pre-load to maximum and this helps. If you leave the
rebound and damping alone it just stiffens up the springs. I will get
the fork springs changed in the near future. You can get some
progressive springs that are alledged to help and a guy I have spoken
to who races the TL has suggested I follow in his footsteps to get a
set of uprated springs from Maxton or Hagon. You can get a bespoke
set by speaking to them and telling what you want them for and
telling how big you are. He did say his were 2 kilo springs and they
did occasionally bottom out.

Bought myself some stainless fasteners (bolts, nuts washers etc) to
replace some of my manky old salt attacked ones, unbelievable I only
had most of these out just after buying the bike, copaslipped them etc
& half of them are corroded in solid..... just spent half the day
drilling out heel & adjuster plate bolts on my rearsets, going to try
the rear subframe & brake reservoir bolts next then have a go at the
engine case fasteners.... ah well something to do over winter...
Has any one else got any horror stories or even good stories... feel

this or similar? my source reckons this is causing insurance companies
to write the bike off? had a word with the engineering company we use
