MHVR - summer bypass   Message List

Hi all,

question to those who have one of these.

I've gone with Regavent who seem on top of everything and have been very happy
so far.

I'm currently going with the 'standard' spec which means that during summer the
unit extracts from the 'wet' areas and you have to have windows open to replace
the air. The 'upgrade' spec means that it pulls in the air but via a different
fan so that it doesn't bypass the heat exchanger.

Has anyone got one of these summer bypass fans and do you ever use it?

Thanks,

Gus

We have a regavent 650L with the summer bypass and yes we use it a lot - basically when it's warmer outside or too warm inside on it goes. If doing it again...

Regarding cooling, I'm not sure it would achieve a great deal as the air volumes being moved are based on continuous ventilation rates rather than for...

I've got an Airminder from Vent Axia and this has a bypass damper that means that the air streams do not go through the heat exchanger rather than a bypass...

With all these MHVR systems I've wondered if a extraction point in each of the top rooms would make for a more comfortable environment. As heat rises you can...

Good idea...I have extraction points in the ceiling of the living room to extract warm air to the heat exchanger when the log burner is over producing. I will...

I'm not very impressed with the summer bypass feature on my Airminder - it clearly only diverts a small proportion of the incoming cooler air around the heat...

Hi all, Interested in the comments relating to 'Summer Bypass'. The unit I have installed does not have this feature (conscious choice). It is my understanding...

ok - I'll think I'll go for it - it's an extra £150 and could be good - especially if I want to keep windows closed but air fresh. Like the sound of...

just a couple of thoughts on this - when we did our sums, a system designed to help keep a whole house warm (ie: recover heat from exhaust air / warm incoming...

my limited understanding of MHVR is that it is about ventilation and not cooling. Regavent told me that the volumes of air that the unit extracts & replaces...

I wasn't suggesting you could turn a MVHR into an air conditioning unit in my earier post. I just trying to point out that as the hot air rises it basically...
