Hi Guys,

New Vice-P has found a driver willing to do a minibus (aparently
cheaper than people carriers)

If we can find one cheap enough then we could still do the Avesbury trip.

Fraggle doens't have a working phone so if some one else wanted to
look into it?

Thanks,
Chris

Guys guys guys,

We need more people to vote on the poll to come to a final conclution
on this matter. Please all log into the forums and have your say. We
are talking about the mental health of our member here.... we could be
all mentally damaged or even deprived of a few giggles if the voting
doesn't truley reflect the majority of the members views...

:) see you all on the forums.

A big fat welcome from your new President, President Zellebean.

Right, i'm renaming the society Pyromaniacs Anonymous and we're all going to
learn to set
fire to things :D!

All joking aside, the past and present commitee met up on Wednesday and
discussed
some really cool things for you next semester ^_^. We're most likely going to
keep the
same format: the first meeting of the semester will be to decide what people
would most
like to learn about, and meeting new members. New things that you can look
forward to
include:

<> "Pass The Cake"- Every fourth wednesday, there shall be cake! Courtesy of
your union.
Hopefully. I have to check we can spend the budget on cake...
<> A Book Of Shadows, or reference book. The deal would be that we would provide
you
with a folder, and anyone who did a talk would be obligated to provide a handout
(we can
pay for the paper). By the end of the semester, you'd end up with a nice big
book full of
things you didn't know before.
<> More craft sessions - everyone loves making stuff!
<> Weekly questions on the forum - a question is chosen (or made up, if no-one
gets
around to asking anything) about a topic, and the question can be answered by
anyone on
the forum so as to start off a discussion. Questions can be anything from "Does
Andy wear
a skirt in his spare time?" to "What is everyone's opinion on the idea of
reincarnation?"

I'd also like very much for those who have special talents, such as divination
(tarot, runes,
ogham, palmistry, etc) to have the opportunity to practise their talents if
they so wish, so
hopefully next semester we'll maybe see more holistic activity going on.

Thanks for your time :)

Hi everyone,

As some of you may or may not be aware, Saturday is our Zena's
birthday, she's going to be 25 this year.....OMG how old is that :p

Anyway to cut a mediocre story short, she's trying to arrange an
outing to celebrate. The plan is to go to EQ tomorrow night, that is
Friday for the uninformed of you, it's going to be Pirate Night so
costumes are wanted, Arrr, avast and all that :) with Saturday the
plan being to go to Frankie and Benny's(in Gunwharf, next to the
cinema for those who don't know) for a meal at 7pm and looking at
going to the 9pm showing (possibly 9.30pm) of Pirates 3.... in costume
of course !!!!!

If anyone is interested in joining her then EQ is anytime from 10.30pm
onwards Friday and meeting outside Frankie and Benny's at 6.45pm Saturday.

I'm sure that if you are unable to make it then you will join me in
wishing her a very Happy Birthday for Saturday

What do you believe happens after you die? Why do you believe that? Do you
think that
what you believe has been influenced by society? Some people say a belief in the
afterlife
is just the human race being arrogant; what do you think?

General concensus of opinion would have it that most pagans believe in some sort
of
afterlife, whether that be The Summerlands or just plain ol' Reincarnation. Some
believe in
a mixture of the two: that you Reincarnate as many times as it takes to maximise
your
spiritual learning, then you are granted access to the Summerlands. Some people
believe
that this act is voluntary also, that you may return to earth to teach others
their path.

The Ancient Egyptians believed that the afterlife was a series of tests, the
last of which was
the Weighing of the Heart, where the heart would be weighed against an ostrich
feather,
and if it was heavier than the feather (and thus weighed down with sin) you'd be
fed to a
crocodile goddess who'd eat you all up. If you passed, you'd become "Akhu" or a
blessed
ancestor. If you decided having your heart weighed was a bit risky and ran away,
you'd
become an angry dead person, or Muet. In this way, Egyptians explain the
presence of
sprit on earth, an afterlife, and a reason to live life well.

Personallly, i believe in reincarnation. It makes sense if you think about it or
have read
Phillip Pullman. When you die, you do physically become the earth: you rot and
disintegrate until you are part of the earth particles. And in turn, you help
the plants
around you to grow, so what used to be you can be part of a blade of grass, or a
tree, or a
leaf of corn.

As for the spiritual part, where my soul goes after i die...i don't think i want
to know that
just yet. I think it would spoil the surprise.

What do you think?
Replies at the web page :)

Hello chicks and chaps!

There is a meeting at the Leopold Pub on Albert Road at 7.30pm,
Wednesday 26th.
This meeting is compulsory for commitee members (unless they're in
Istanbul...) but i'd love it if you all showed up. We're going to be
talking about Freshers Fayre and what we can do for the next semester.
You'll be glad to know we have a massive budget and Fran and I have
already made some rather awesome plans for Freshers' - which if you'll
come along, you'll find out all about! You'll also get a say in where
the meetings are going to be held, post-union. There will be photos
taken to use in the Freshers' display on this date so if you don't
show your face, you won't get to be famous.

Freshers' is 3rd October; (this is as informative as the Union gets)
as i'm sure you can imagine, most people enroll on that day and so
will have to be absent from the stall for periods of up to 20 mins at
a time. As such, any help on the day would be massively appreciated
and rewarded with cakey goodness. We also need people to hand out some
rather spiffily designed leaflets on the day to hook in the punters
^_^. Please tell me what you think of the design, it can be seen in
the 'Photos' section of the Upsu Pass Yahoo group at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/upsu_pass.

Fran and I are going to have moved house from the 29th September, if
you need our address, please ask, and if you need to contact me my
phone number is 07961 991836.

Love and blessings and sparkles
President Zelle.

We've managed to sign up an awesome 15 members so far at Freshers so
hopefully we'll have a really good first week back!

This is short and sweet. I should be on the Fresher's stall with Andy...

Anyway:
The first meeting back is THIS WEDNESDAY, 10th. We'll be meeting at
6.30 in the union and i'd love to see you all there. It'll also be an
opportunity for returning members to sign back up. Registration is £5 :)

Also i won't have internet at home until Monday, so if you need me,
text or ring me on 07961 991836.

Love
Zelle.

Paul has kindly agreed to do a guided meditation for us this wednesday.
We'll also be doing a little something for Samhain.

Also, if you haven't joined yet Fran is likely to keep your feet
hostage until you pay up. This includes me! :D

If anyone who is interested in the Avebury trip could please bring
along their £5 deposit that day as well. The trip in total should only
cost you around £10.

:)
See you next week!
